Setting up a Business in India

There are four kinds of formats to register a startup in India. They are:

• Sole Proprietorship Registration

Register with Startup India

You need to register a startup in India by logging on to the Startup India website. You will have to complete the provided form with your business details. Thereafter, you will need to enter the one-time password (OTP) sent to your email and other details after which your Startup India profile is created.

Register at the Shram Suvidha Portal of the Ministry of Labour and Employment and login. Click on the link “Is Any of your Establishment a Startup?” after login successfully and follow the instructions.

Application for Startup India Registration

You can apply for the startup India registration known as the Certificate of Recognition for Startups by making a visit to the Startup India portal and filling in the application form. Thereafter, you will have to upload the required documents. There will be 5 sections for you to fill to register a startup in India:

• Entity Details: You will need to enter the entity type (partnership, company, or LLP), sector, industry, name of entity, PAN details, and incorporation or registration number and date.
• Authorized Representative Details: This will include names, designations, and contact details of the authorized individuals.
• Director(s)/Partner(s) Details: This will include the names, addresses, gender, and contact details of the directors/partners.
• Additional Information: You will need to offer additional details like details of Intellectual Property Right applications, stage of development of the product/service, and number of employees.
• Self-Certification: You will need to upload the certificate of company incorporation issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in JPG, PNG, or PDF format with size less than 5 MB.
• Additional Documents/Details: Additional details and documents for supporting the application are required. This includes pitch deck, website link, videos, etc.

The application will be examined after this and the startup India registration certificate will be issued to the entity.
